Transformative IT Leadership Opportunity

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is seeking a visionary Chief Information Officer to spearhead the digital transformation of their IT services. As a global leader in plant and fungal research, Kew is at the forefront of efforts to combat biodiversity loss and address critical environmental challenges.

This role offers a unique chance to shape the digital landscape of a world-renowned scientific organization, driving innovation and supporting cutting-edge research. With a multifaceted approach that encompasses research, visitor attractions, and digital services, the successful candidate will need to understand the complexities of Kew's operations to deliver effective services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the IT Directorate at Kew, providing strategic leadership and ensuring the effective use of innovative technology to support Kew's mission.
  • Strengthen the IT infrastructure and services that support Kew Science, particularly in data management, AI, and emerging technologies.
  • Work closely with Kew's scientific teams to empower them to conduct world-class research by leveraging advanced digital solutions and enabling the exploitation of vast scientific datasets.
  • Act as a key player on the Executive Board, driving the organization's broader goals as outlined in the Manifesto for Change.
  • Oversee information management frameworks, data security, and the responsible use of innovative technologies such as AI to support research excellence at Kew.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in leading IT transformations and driving digital innovation.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, data management, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work closely with scientific teams to deliver cutting-edge research solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Location: Based in London, with some additional travel to Wakehurst.
