Automation Systems Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Automation Systems Specialist to join our team at Vector Recruitment Ltd. As an Automation Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment and software on PLC and SCADA systems.

You will work closely with life scientists, software engineers, and mechanical engineers to develop automated biotech / bioprocessing manufacturing technology. This is an exciting opportunity to use your engineering skills across a range of disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, manage, and maintain equipment and software on PLC and SCADA systems
  • Work closely with life scientists, software engineers, and mechanical engineers to develop automated biotech / bioprocessing manufacturing technology
  • Develop software for communication protocols including OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus
  • Have excellent knowledge of control system specification, architecture design methodologies, and familiarity with various requirements management and system modelling tools
  • Have hands-on experience in debugging control systems on industrial platforms

Requirements:

  • Skills in Programmable logic controllers (PLC) (Siemens, Beckhoff, or others), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
  • Excellent communication skills to summarise project status and discuss critical issues/milestones with colleagues and external clients
  • Degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience working with PLCs in process control environments

Location: Cambridgeshire (Commutable from: Cambridge, Bedford, Huntingdon, St Neots, Peterborough, Stevenage, Luton, North London etc)

Salary: £60k - £80k + excellent benefits and career progression opportunities
