Job Role: Enforcement and Compliance Officer

Service Care Solutions Ltd is seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Enforcement and Compliance Officer, focusing on enforcing, maintaining, and enhancing standards in private sector housing. This position entails key responsibilities such as housing enforcement, financial assistance administration, empty homes management, and landlord liaison, ensuring quality housing for Teignbridge residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out regular property inspections and HHSRS assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Offer expert guidance to tenants, landlords, and agencies on housing standards and legislative compliance, advising on necessary improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Housing Options team to support vulnerable clients and combat harassment and unlawful eviction, fostering a safe living environment.
  • Process applications for grants and loans for housing improvements and adaptations, facilitating necessary renovations.
  • Address long-term empty properties by engaging with owners and implementing enforcement actions, preventing neglect and degradation.
  • Liaise with contractors, health professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and seamless communication.


Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in housing or a related field, such as Environmental Health, is highly desirable.
  • HHSRS competency certification or a commitment to obtain it demonstrates expertise in this area.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, combined with experience in customer service and negotiation, are essential for success in this role.
  • A valid driving license and DBS check are mandatory for the position.


This role offers a competitive salary of £38,000 - £43,000 per annum, based on experience, presenting a challenging and rewarding opportunity for those interested in housing standards and compliance.
