Devon, United Kingdom Devon County Council Full time
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Social Worker to join our Children's Assessment Team in Devon. As a key member of our team, you will provide professional leadership and supervision to colleagues, supporting the development of good evidence-based practice.

As a hands-on role, you will work closely with children and young people with complex needs, undertaking in-depth assessments and providing high-quality support to families. You will also share your knowledge and experience with colleagues to continually improve practice standards within the team.

You will model social work practice that is of a high standard and in line with statutory obligations, championing restorative practice and encouraging a collaborative culture. You will deliver on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to students, unqualified staff, and less experienced colleagues to develop their skills.

We are looking for someone with substantial post-qualifying experience in children's social work, who is able to work in line with the BASW PCF framework. You will have a high level of written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build effective professional relationships, and knowledge of the legislation, models, and theories relevant to children's social work.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families. You will need to be a registered social worker with Social Work England, have experience working in a multi-agency and court environment, and hold a valid UK driving licence and access to a car.

We offer a range of benefits, including up to £2,000 annual retention payment, generous annual leave, and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme. We promote a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements wherever possible.

What We Can Offer

In return for your vital contribution, we offer a range of benefits, including:

  • Up to £2,000 annual retention payment
  • Generous annual leave
  • Free onsite parking
  • Employee Assistance for times of need
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Discounts at over 900 national & local high street retailers

We are committed to supporting your career development and offer opportunities for training and professional growth. If you are looking to move to Devon, we offer a generous relocation allowance.
