Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a wonderful Primary school near Newcastle. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 child with acute autism, helping them navigate their learning journey in a primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 child with acute autism, both in and out of the classroom throughout each morning
  • Implement personalized learning plans in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Use specialist techniques to support the child's communication, sensory, and behavioural needs
  • Assist with social interaction, managing routines, and transitions
  • Monitor progress and provide regular updates to parents and school staff

Requirements:

  • Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Previous experience working with children with autism or SEN
  • Ability to adapt to the child's evolving needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
