About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Vistry Group. As a key member of our Commercial, Estimating and Buying team, you will play a crucial role in delivering cost control and financial reporting duties across all aspects of construction work undertaken by the Company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver cost control and financial reporting duties, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of construction costs.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Director to assess site staffing levels and build programmes, identifying preliminary costs and preparing start-on-site budgets.
  • Prepare stage payment schedules to facilitate the financing of works, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor orders, including interviews, reference checks, and negotiation of contract sums within budget.
  • Provide cost advice on major variations, issuing revised contract drawings to subcontractors and negotiating cost implications.
  • Check and arrange subcontractor payments, obtaining necessary authorisation for passing payments for all elements of subcontractor works.
  • Agree final accounts with subcontractors, ensuring all works have been carried out within budget and analysing costs to inform future estimates.
Requirements
  • Experience in quantity surveying and knowledge of construction techniques and mixed-tenure schemes.
  • High level of mathematical ability and problem-solving skills, with a methodical and logical approach to work.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and ability to learn new computer systems such as Xpedeon and Viewpoint/4Projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a wider team, influencing others to share best practices and achieve business objectives.
