About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Devon Partnership NHS Trust as an Environmental Porter - Waste Management Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our waste management services across Langdon Hospital and other Trust sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Unload, load, and store equipment and deliveries from internal and external sources.
  • Deliver equipment and materials in support of departmental cleaning schedules and National Cleaning Standards, including specialist cleaning as required by Infection Control.
  • Operate and perform daily checks on all vehicles employed during the course of your duties.
  • Ensure correct waste segregation and disposal procedures in accordance with Trust policy.
  • Collect and transport waste from end-user areas to the centralised waste storage compound.
  • Remove soiled linen and distribute clean linen to/from wards and departments.
  • Complete documentation as required by department, Trust, legislation, and standing instructions.
  • Observe hygiene, hospital, and client policies and procedures at all times, reporting any faults, defects, or operational issues to the Line Manager.
  • Perform general portering tasks as requested, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety procedures.
  • Undertake other duties in accordance with the needs of the service, specifically cleaning duties during periods of absence of other related staff.
  • Make ad hoc deliveries/collections to/from other Trust locations.
