The British Library's Digital Collections are a vast and diverse treasure trove of digital artifacts, requiring efficient management to ensure their long-term preservation and accessibility. As a Digital Collections Conservator, you will play a critical role in supporting the preservation of these collections, working closely with colleagues to develop preservation plans and ingest collections into the Library's long-term digital repository.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the Library's digital collections and acquisition and processing workflows
  • Work with colleagues to develop preservation plans and ingest collections into the Library's long-term digital repository
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of best practice for digital preservation within the Library
  • Support colleagues with the implementation of the digital elements of the Library's Collection Management Strategy

Requirements:

  • Experience in managing and preserving digital collections
  • Practical knowledge of digital preservation risks, challenges, and solutions
  • Sound understanding of concepts relating to digital lifecycle management and preservation requirements
  • Strong writing, analytical, and time-management skills
