Job Overview
This role requires a skilled Emergency Nurse Practitioner to work autonomously in assessing, examining, diagnosing, and managing patients presenting with undifferentiated and un-diagnosed injuries/illnesses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care are provided to all patients, including the safe discharge of patients from the Emergency Department or to other specialties.
Additionally, the Emergency Nurse Practitioner will provide specialist advice as required within the department to outside agencies and the general public.
Main Duties
The Emergency Nurse Practitioner will be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of professional practice, including the management of patients in their care.
They will demonstrate specialist knowledge as a Nurse Practitioner, across a range of clinical procedures that is underpinned by theoretical knowledge and experience.
The Emergency Nurse Practitioner will have extended skills to order the appropriate clinical investigations to support initial diagnosis, including x-rays and blood tests.
They will interpret and analyse clinical data, and have the authority to refer to on-call specialist teams.
The Emergency Nurse Practitioner will also prescribe, administer, and supply medication as an independent prescriber, or use PGDs to administer and supply an approved list of medicines.
