About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled AI Engineering Manager with expertise in large language models to join our Content Understanding teams as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer. In this role, you will help define and build machine learning systems at scale that drive value in media and catalog understanding.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will be the technical lead for a small team of engineers building and maintaining text understanding tools for tasks such as transcription, moderation, entity extraction, topic modeling, and summarization.
  • Craft and deliver solutions involving large language models, including training, fine-tuning, and maintenance of these models.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of the latest industry trends in LLM developments and introduce groundbreaking use cases for internal applications.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical business partners to develop analytics and metrics describing the performance of our text understanding systems and data quality.
  • Leverage innovative tooling within the Spotify ecosystem, such as TensorFlow, Kubeflow, DataFlow, python-beam, and Google Cloud Platform.
About You
  • Academic and proven experience in text understanding and natural language processing solutions, including large language models and speech-to-text transcription.
  • Expertise in training, fine-tuning, deploying, and maintaining large language models, including experience working with popular third-party foundation models.
  • Extensive experience working in product and data-driven environments (Python, Scala, Java, SQL, or C++) and cloud platforms (GCP or AWS).
  • Experience in architecting data pipelines and self-sufficiency in getting required data to build and evaluate models using tools like Dataflow, Apache Beam, or Spark.
  • Familiarity with MLOps and the model lifecycle, including AB testing, experimentation, push, and maintenance in production, observability, and monitoring.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business intuition into data-driven hypotheses resulting in impactful engineering solutions.
  • Experience cultivating a strong engineering culture in an agile environment.
