Job Description

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team in Cambridge. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in creating solutions that integrate with our products and services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspiring best practices for data products and services within your teams.
  • Building data engineering capability.
  • Working with colleagues to identify, plan, develop, and deliver data services related to critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you will:

  • Work with other Digital team members to identify, plan, develop, and deliver data services that support various workstreams.
  • Ensure that data is managed and analyzed in a secure, efficient, and well-governed manner.
  • Implement and optimize data pipelines, data modeling, and data availability to speed up time-to-production.
  • Ensure quality of delivery and in-depth understanding of business requirements.
  • Work closely with data architects, TechOps engineers, and other stakeholders to build integrated, high-performing solutions.
  • Apply pragmatism and innovative thinking to make data-driven decisions that add value.
  • Work collaboratively with the Data and Analytics team and the wider Abcam Digital team to address issues with software and integration delivery.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A BSc in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related subject.
  • Significant technical experience, including experience working with a modern cloud data stack and integration of in-house and vendor-based components.
  • Experience in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and in-depth SQL experience.
  • The ability to think creatively about how to solve issues.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and delivering digital transformation initiatives.
