Energy Economist Role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Economist to join our Energy Economics team. This team is responsible for Pricing, Forecasting, Energy Risk Management, and Performance Management.

In this role, you will be accountable for:

  • Understanding Forecasting Costs - Analyse and forecast non-commodity costs
  • Regulatory and Policy Updates - Monitor and stay current with regulatory updates and policy changes impacting the Energy sector
  • Data Collection and Analysis - Collect data from various sources to support cost forecasting
  • Reporting and Presentation - Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, summarising key findings and forecast outcomes
  • Collaboration and Communication - Work closely with Data, Finance, Regulatory and Operation departments
  • Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities for process improvements in cost forecasting and modeling

Requirements

  • Educational Background - Bachelor's degree in Policy, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software and databases
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as SQL, Power BI, or similar
  • Industry Knowledge - Comprehensive understanding of the UK Energy market, including regulatory and policy frameworks
  • Analytical Skills
  • Communication Skills
  • 2+ years of Energy retail experience
