Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Practitioner to join our team at Autismo East Midlands. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of autistic individuals, particularly K*, who requires support with various daily activities and personal care.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is £12.08 per hour, with opportunities for overtime at £13 per hour. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, occupational sick pay, extensive induction with autism specialist training, and a fully paid Care Certificate.

Job Description

As an Autism Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing holistic support to K* and other service users, focusing on independent living skills, communication development, and managing anxieties through positive behaviour support plans. Your duties will include supporting K* with daily activities, such as cooking, laundry, and bungalow upkeep, as well as accompanying him on outdoor activities, like walks and drives, tailored to his interests and preferences.

You will work closely with the team to develop and implement individualized support plans, ensuring that each person's needs are met while promoting their autonomy and independence. Your patience, creativity, and ability to think outside the box will be invaluable in this role, as you strive to provide a calm and supportive environment for K* and others.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Calm, patient, and creative approach to working with individuals with autism
  • Energetic and fit, with the ability to walk at K*'s pace
  • Manual vehicle driver with experience in driving safely and efficiently
  • Able to provide personal care, showering, toileting, and other essential tasks
