The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at PCI Tredegar. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production facilities. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical guidance and expertise in resolving quality issues
  • Assisting the Maintenance Engineering Manager in ensuring compliance with current GMP standards
  • Participating in planned preventative maintenance programs
  • Supporting the Engineering Departments in ensuring all engineering activities meet GMP standards
  • Promptly attending to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime and product loss

Main Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and servicing all equipment and materials involved in the production of products at PCI Tredegar
  • Supporting the set-up and change over of production equipment, as well as training staff on these tasks
  • Undertaking the maintenance and repair of manufacturing and packaging equipment at the PCI Tredegar sites
  • Fully contributing to planned preventative maintenance programs
  • Monitoring the performance of critical utilities and process equipment in a cGMP environment and performing or arranging necessary repairs, adjustments, calibrations, and preventative maintenance
  • Liaising with third-party contractors to arrange for planned preventative maintenance/rectification work required for breakdowns and ensuring the prompt return of associated reports
  • Without supervision, promptly attending equipment breakdowns, practicing systematic fault diagnosis and repairs in optimum time, ensuring minimum downtime and product loss
  • Complying with company policies, local, UK, and global regulatory requirements, including internal and external Health, Safety, and Environmental standards at all times while completing tasks
  • Assisting in coordinating equipment requisitions with internal departments for building services requirements and carrying out equipment and furniture installations
  • Providing technical support, advice, and expertise to all operational departments and clients, including size changes, machine speeds, optimum settings, etc.
  • Assisting with registration and installation of new plant/equipment
  • Supporting the design, procurement, introduction, and management of production tooling
  • Providing training, support, and direction to trainees/apprentices/operation team when required
  • Maintaining close co-operation with all other departments to attain continual improvement in performance and standards of quality and reliability
  • Assisting in the management of electrical energy consumption using monitoring techniques in line with environmental policy
  • Maintaining a degree of flexible working to support the business, when required, on weekends or after hours

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • A strong background and practical experience in electrical engineering
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred but not essential
  • A proven ability to work effectively in an operational setting
  • Skills in maintaining equipment and managing breakdowns

  • Knowledgeable in preventive and maintenance systems (PPM)
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork abilities
