Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Manager to lead our Menswear and Cookshop/Linens department in our Salisbury department store. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for driving sales growth, improving customer satisfaction, and maintaining a high standard of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Ensure a high standard of customer service is provided by all departmental staff.
- Maintain a hands-on approach with customer service and lead by example.
- Team Leadership
- Deliver training to ensure the team has the capability and confidence to deliver their role.
- Lead colleagues to work with purpose, delivering outstanding performance against all relevant targets across the department.
- Stock Management
- Oversee the receiving, unpacking, pricing, and delivery of stock on the shop floor.
- Maintain a high visual merchandising layout standard to ensure good disciplines regarding stock displays and pricing are maintained to maximize sales.
- Reporting and Analysis
- Create reports on sales, budgets, and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Supplier Relationships
- Maintain trust relationships with suppliers/reps when they visit the store.
- Buyer Collaboration
- Influence and develop relationships with buyers to identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends.
- Employee Development
- Assist the buyer by attending exhibitions to remain up to date with market trends.
- Mentor employees to improve their skills and performance.
- Customer Complaints
- Deal with customer complaints promptly and efficiently.
Requirements
- Experience as a successful manager within a high turnover department.
- Current relevant experience of the department.
- P&L expertise with impressive commercial acumen.
- Ability to effectively lead teams.
