Job Opportunity at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Restorative Dentistry to join our team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality restorative dentistry services to patients across Dorset, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide excellent patient care.

The role will focus on the dentistry needs of patients in three core services:

  • Head and Neck Cancer
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma
  • Head and Neck Developmental Anomalies

Key information

  • 6 PA role; open to informal conversations regarding less than full time position to meet the needs of the candidate and the needs of the service.
  • Based at Poole Hospital with extended scope to be a visiting consultant within the area.
  • Supported by an established multi-disciplinary team.
  • Work closely with the Restorative Dentistry Operations team who will support the candidate to become embedded into the post.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver clinical excellence in Restorative Dentistry.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from within and outside the Trust to provide excellent patient care.
  • Provide clinical expertise in Restorative Dentistry, supporting and supervising members of the multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide a specialty service to the Trust with responsibility for the diagnosis and management of patients referred to the Restorative Dentistry service.
  • Ensure that patients are provided with the highest possible standard of diagnosis, treatment and care in the most effective and timely way.
  • Lead on development plans and delivery of key performance indicators for Restorative Dentistry.
  • Supervise, train and advise junior medical and dental staff working at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust to ensure high standards of clinical practice and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with medical, scientific, management, technical and nursing staff, as required for performing the responsibilities of this post.
  • Lead by example and set and maintain high professional standards.
  • The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the new Consultant contract.
Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications
  • GDC Registration
Experience
  • Significant experience in leading and managing restorative dentistry service within an NHS setting.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year or pro rata for less than full time.
