Clinical Trials Specialist

Job Summary
The Clinical Trials Specialist will play a key role in the coordination of day-to-day activities in Clinical Trials at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will ensure that administrative duties relating to clinical trials are carried out in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and drug trial protocols.
The Clinical Trials Specialist will manage all pharmacy aspects of clinical trial studies, including the development and implementation of pharmacy procedures, managing files, dealing with sponsors, and handling financial queries. The post holder will also be responsible for the dispensing of trial medication and ensuring that all trials are managed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Clinical Trials Regulations.
Main Duties of the Job
- Undertake the receipt, dispensing, accountability, returns, and destruction of clinical trials, ensuring all trials are managed in accordance with GCP and Clinical Trials Regulations.
- Deliver an efficient, structured, and accurate clinical trials service, complying with national legislation and local policies in conjunction with the pharmacy clinical trials team.
- Work with other members of the pharmacy clinical trials team to develop the clinical trials service in line with Trust strategy and regulatory directives.

- Manage quarantined clinical trials medication and report results of quarantined medicine investigations to the clinical trials pharmacists and technicians.
- Plan, organise, and manage the daily workload of the pharmacy clinical trials service in conjunction with the clinical trials pharmacy technicians and assistants.
- Ensure dispensing, storage, and expiry date records for clinical trials are kept up-to-date.
- Process patient returned clinical trial medicines and clinical trial medicines destruction.
- Manage shipping and clinical trial medicines returns to trial sponsors with external vendors.
- Review and contribute to SOPs for processes within the clinical trials department.
- Process and support implementation of amendments.
- Respond to financial queries and produce reports.
