We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Food Production Specialist at HM Prison Humber. As part of our catering team, you will be responsible for overseeing the work of offenders to prepare and cook quality, nutritional meals for the entire prison.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a professional industrial kitchen environment, with a good salary, pension, and Civil Service benefits. You will be working in a dynamic team, helping offenders learn new skills and work towards gaining qualifications to increase their chances of employment and reduce their likelihood of reoffending when they leave prison.
• You will oversee the work of offenders in the kitchen, ensuring that they adhere to health and safety regulations and produce high-quality meals.
• You will manage the kitchen inventory, ordering supplies and managing stock levels to ensure that we always have the necessary ingredients and equipment.
• You will work closely with the prison's healthcare team to ensure that offenders with dietary requirements are supported and that meals are tailored to meet their needs.
• You will contribute to the development of new menus and meal plans, using your knowledge of nutrition and food production to create delicious and healthy meals for the prisoners.
• You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and ensuring that the kitchen meets the highest standards.
• You will work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve our goals and objectives, providing support and guidance as needed.
Requirements• Level 2 certificate in Food Production within Hospitality and Catering or equivalent
• Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
• Ability to speak with confidence in English
• Familiarity with health, safety, and hygiene regulations for working in a kitchen
• Ability to demonstrate competency within an industrial kitchen environment
