Vehicle Technician Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Technician to join our team at First Bus Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and carrying out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
As a Mechanical & Electrical Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults, including engines, automatic/semi-automatic gearboxes, drive trains, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, and cooling systems.
- Carrying out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations, including using handheld data capture devices if applicable.
- Conducting vehicle road testing to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair.
- Providing PCV Mechanical repair skills and an understanding of electrics, which would be beneficial but not essential.
We will provide you with all the necessary tools and equipment, including overalls. You may occasionally be required to work at our Swansea depot with notice, with travel time paid.
Location - Haverfordwest
Hourly Rate - £17.00 per hour
Working Shift Patterns:
- 24 hours per week
- Monday to Wednesday, with rest-day overtime often available at enhanced rates (£23 /hr)
About You:
- Minimum level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (i.e., City & Guilds level I & 2)
- Must have a full cat B license
- Welding experience is preferable
- PCV licence is not essential, as we can support you in gaining it
- You should be fully conversant with the overhaul and repair of vehicle systems, including engines, automatic/semi-automatic gearboxes, drive trains, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, and basic auto electrics
- You should be fully conversant with the safe operation of workshop equipment, including brake rolling road testers, tracking gauges, hydraulic vehicle lifts, pressurised oil and waste systems, battery chargers and starters, trolley jacks, scaffolding, pressure wash and automatic washing equipment, digital smoke readers, headlamp alignment testers, hydraulic jacks and testing equipment, drilling machines, torque wrenches, pedestal grinders, and general portable equipment
- You should have working experience with all relevant diagnostic equipment, including hydraulic flow meters, air, and vacuum gauges, multi meters, temperature gauges, micrometres, Vernier gauges, engine and gearbox laptop testing equipment
- You will need to attend vehicle manufacturer product training courses, DVSA vehicle inspection training, and specialist vehicle recovery training as required, which may involve an overnight stay
