At RHL, we offer a competitive salary of £32,000 - £37,000 per annum, plus a company van and standby allowance. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team as a Mechanical Systems Engineer.

Job Description:

You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with company and statutory requirements, and responding to breakdowns. You will also oversee and develop a system that implements and records the completion of maintenance and inspection on plant and equipment at allocated locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain mechanical systems to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
  • Oversight and development of a system for maintenance and inspection of plant and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and operational tasks on COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage Terminals and pipeline systems operated by BPA.
  • Provide maintenance and inspection services to maintain 98% plant availability targets within COMAH Top Tier storage Terminals and pipeline.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours call-out roster for trouble shooting and corrective maintenance on a 24/7 - 365-day basis.
  • Attain and maintain competency to work on high-pressure systems transporting flammable substances within DSEAR / ATEX legal requirements and company standards.
  • Complete maintenance, testing, and adjustments on mechanical systems including equipment covered by the Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR) and critical to Process Safety Management considering COMAH Regulations.
  • Supervise works in proximity to buried cross-country pipelines in accordance with established working procedures.
  • Source suppliers, obtain quotes, agree on terms and conditions, and raise orders for goods and services required for maintenance and inspection responsibilities in accordance with the company purchasing system.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for an individual with a recognised professional qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard, or extensive demonstrable experience in lieu of this. Essential skills include awareness of fundamental health and safety practices in the workplace, experience of maintenance, root cause fault analysis, and ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations.
