Early Years Group Leader Job Description

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Group Leader to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and safety of our young campers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the Early Years Foundation Stages to provide a nurturing environment for our children.
  • Set up and maintain a welcoming and organized base room area that promotes engagement and learning.
  • Follow established policies and procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our campers.
  • Deliver a variety of activity sessions as outlined in the daily timetable, working collaboratively with other staff members.
  • Act as a Key Worker, building relationships with our campers and communicating effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Provide active supervision and attention to our campers at all times, including breaks and meal times.
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that cater to the needs and interests of our campers, promoting their development and well-being.
  • Encourage maximum participation and inclusion, adhering to OFSTED guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for the general welfare and safeguarding of our campers.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and resources provided for activities.
  • Facilitate children's development through Explore and Play sessions.
Requirements:
  • Hold a relevant childcare qualification or be working towards one.
  • Have knowledge and experience within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Be aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
  • Be enthusiastic, caring, and organized with excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to adapt to challenging situations and use your initiative effectively.
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete Online Training annually.
  • Attend Induction Training Day before your camp opens.
  • Assist with pack up at the end of camp.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfils all Health and Safety obligations by following instructions and taking a proactive approach to safety issues.
  • Deliver activities that are appropriate for the children in your care, within the scope of your qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities and follow the activity programme as directed.
  • Ensure children under your supervision behave safely and respect their individual needs.
  • Follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
  • Be a positive role model, promoting a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene practices.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to your Senior Team or a Designated Person at the Central Office.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
  • Pending staff availability, you may be required to deliver Skills Builder sessions.
  • All staff may be required to support a swimming session.
