At Alexander Dennis, we are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our team in Scarborough. This is a unique opportunity to lead the charge in shaping a proactive health and safety culture, ensuring legal compliance, and updating key policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategy that meets legal obligations and drives a positive health and safety culture.
- Review and update existing policies and standard operating procedures in line with best practice.
- Support colleagues at all levels with health, safety and environmental matters, coaching and developing them to take more responsibility.
- Develop value-added management information and reporting, leading the way on KPIs to drive behaviour and performance.
- Provide expert advice on capital and operational expenditure plans to ensure long-term health, safety and environmental needs are addressed.
- Develop and propose improvements to policies, programs, and procedures to improve EHS operations.
- Lead the H&S function, ensuring standards are met with consistent execution and implementation.
- Set clear key performance indicators to measure success within this area.
- Oversee execution of emergency/hazard response activities and all Health and Safety investigations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in the Automotive industry or complex engineering/manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with the set up and on-going maintenance of Health, Safety and Environmental management systems.
- Appropriate professional qualifications and certifications, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, IMEA and various ISO accreditations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, direct and indirect teams.
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate and coach others to take responsibility for health, safety and environmental activities.
