Job Description

We are seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Defence sector. This is an exciting opportunity to work on Assystem-led projects in either our Sunderland or Glasgow offices, with flexible hybrid working available.

Your Missions:

  • Develop complete design concepts, scheme definitions, and full detailed design solutions using CAD software, including Inventor.
  • Work on piping systems, mechanical flow diagrams, and the production of general arrangement, assembly, component, and fabrication drawings.
  • Produce scoping calculations and component specifications that meet BS/ISO standards and legal requirements (e.g., LOLER, EMUA).
  • Ensure designs adhere to the AEIL Quality Management System, delivering work within agreed time scales, costs, and quality standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • HND in an applicable engineering/design discipline preferred or HNC with relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design in line with BS/ISO standards.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with design for manufacture, pipework, pressure vessels, and structural steelwork.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit and GD&T (desirable).
  • Familiarity with BS8888 and ASME Y14.5 drawing standards (desirable).
