About the Role

We are seeking an experienced healthcare professional to join our stroke Acute Care Practitioner team. The ideal candidate will be an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the rapid assessment of patients presenting to the emergency department with stroke symptoms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage all stroke referrals
  • Identify patients eligible for reperfusion therapies and facilitate access to these treatments/interventions
  • Perform specialist stroke assessments, including the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and dysphagia assessments
  • Work autonomously to formulate clinical management plans in line with current guidelines
  • Participate in active research trials and audit programmes
  • Provide specialist stroke training to members of the stroke multidisciplinary team and other clinical specialties

Person Specification

  • Substantial post-registration relevant experience
  • Current Professional registration within the area of practice
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) qualification
  • Post-registration qualification or training relevant to the specialty
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Registered Independent Non-Medical Prescriber ALS Provider
  • Dysphagia Assessment Skills
  • Evidence of teaching, supervision, and assessment skills
