About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Executive to join our team at The Institution of Engineering & Technology. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a vital role in delivering our internal and external communications strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Craft compelling messages that resonate with a wide range of stakeholders, from senior leaders and colleagues to journalists and members.
  • Develop and implement creative communication campaigns to support strategic objectives and key events.
  • Manage internal communication channels, including the intranet, and support colleague engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with journalists and media outlets, handling press enquiries and pitching stories to enhance the IET's profile.
  • Coordinate high-profile events, such as the President's Address, providing communication support and managing media involvement.
  • Monitor and report on communication effectiveness, using insights to improve future campaigns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring consistent and aligned messaging across departments.
  • Support the production of presentations and briefing documents for senior stakeholders ahead of media and public engagements.
  • Assist with internal events and broadcast communications to keep employees informed and engaged.
Requirements
  • Strong experience in communications, journalism, or copywriting, with the ability to write creatively and clearly.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple communication channels, including intranets and social media.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident in engaging with a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders and the media.
  • A creative approach to developing communication campaigns that align with strategic objectives.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and handle competing deadlines.
  • Experience working in internal communications, with knowledge of employee engagement techniques.
  • Ability to produce speeches and presentations for senior stakeholders, often to tight deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across departments.
  • Knowledge of media relations, including pitching stories and handling enquiries.
  • A flexible, proactive approach, with a passion for delivering impactful and innovative communications.
