Vital Human Resources is seeking a highly skilled Senior Ecologist to join our team. This role offers a very competitive £50,000 - £60,000 per annum salary with attractive benefits, flexible working, and career development.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced ecologist with expertise in mitigation advice, protected species surveys, and rail maintenance processes. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of UK and European wildlife laws and guidelines, as well as extensive field experience and ability to identify ecological constraints on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert ecological advice and guidance on rail projects
  • Conducting protected species surveys and developing comprehensive ecological reports
  • Collaborating with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Managing ecological consultants and third-party contractors

Requirements:

  • A strong undergraduate degree in Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Biology, or Environmental Science
  • Demonstrable post-graduate experience in professional ecological consultancy
  • Familiarity with rail maintenance processes and conducting protected species surveys
  • Full Membership of CIEEM or equivalent
  • Experience in EPS Mitigation license application and holding or working towards Protected species licenses
