Paediatric Palliative Care Specialist

GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN NHS FOUNDATION TRUST is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to fill a PA Substantive Consultant post in Paediatric Palliative Medicine (PPM).
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Louis Dundas Centre for Paediatric Palliative Care in the Blood Cells and Cancer Directorate, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients and their families.
The Louis Dundas Centre is one of the leading paediatric palliative care teams in Europe, with a strong focus on academic research and clinical expertise. The Centre aims to bring together the best possible care for children, young people, and families, and the successful candidate will play a key role in achieving this goal.
The role will involve promoting and supporting the delivery of all aspects of palliative and end-of-life care to GOSH patients referred from multiple sources within London and the South East of England. The team's activity is undertaken both on site and in the patients' homes, local hospital, or hospices.
The appointee will be expected to attend LDC interdisciplinary team meetings, including clinical, business, and educational meetings, as well as other departmental meetings and ward rounds as appropriate to supporting the Trust-wide integrated palliative care service.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing high-quality care to patients and their families, working closely with the multidisciplinary team.
- Attending LDC interdisciplinary team meetings, including clinical, business, and educational meetings.
- Participating in quality or safety improvement projects, and contributing to the development of clinical governance.
- Leading in Clinical Audit processes, and participating in the development of clinical policies and procedures.
- Providing teaching and training to students and other healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of educational programs.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will have:
- GMC specialist registration with a Licence to Practice.
- MRCP, MRCPCH, or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Paediatrics.
- CCT/CCST in Paediatric Palliative Medicine (PPM), or equivalent training and experience (eligible for CESR).
The ideal candidate will have experience in Paediatric palliative care, teaching students and multi-disciplinary teams, leading in Clinical Audit processes, and published research in peer-reviewed journals in relevant areas. They will also have high-level written and oral communication skills, ability to organise and prioritise their workload, and excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.
