Maintenance Operations Assistant

As a Maintenance Operations Assistant at Barnardo's, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of our facilities. This includes painting and decorating, conducting risk assessments, and assembling flat pack furniture.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Painting and decorating: Including filling, sanding, and preparation.
  • Risk Assessments: Conducting thorough risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Flat Pack Furniture Assembly: Assembling and installing flat pack furniture in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Gardening: Maintaining the grounds and performing routine gardening tasks.
  • Building Maintenance and Repairs: Undertaking minor routine building maintenance and repairs to ensure the upkeep of our facilities.
  • Locksmith Services: Changing lock barrels and ensuring secure access control.
  • Furniture and Equipment Repair: Repairing and maintaining furniture and equipment to extend their lifespan.
  • Jet Washing: Cleaning surfaces using jet washing techniques.
  • Minibus Checks: Conducting regular checks on our minibus to ensure it is roadworthy.
  • Waste Removal: Removing waste and unwanted items from the premises.
  • General DIY: Performing general household DIY tasks to maintain a safe and functional living environment.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A basic understanding of health and safety procedures is also essential.

Salary and Benefits:

£25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
