About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Validation Specialist to join our Actuarial Services team at Phoenix Group Holdings. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the production and review of IFRS17 manuals, ensuring the accuracy and quality of our actuarial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Input into and integrate IFRS17 Day 2 activity into BAU
  • Delivery and analysis of actuarial modelled and manual calculations for a range of valuation reporting needs
  • Ensure control framework is followed with robust do and check before hand over to Validation Actuaries and Review team
  • Use of actuarial judgement to resolve valuation issues considering materiality and operational aspects
  • Provide operational leadership in key areas of expertise and represent business area appropriately within cross divisional projects
  • Support Validation Manager on overall resourcing and reporting deliveries
  • Regularly working to defined and tight timescales whilst maintaining professional standards
  • Balancing business demand, issues, and risks by applying sound judgement in complex scenarios, often with considerable uncertainty
  • Lead, develop, coach and mentor actuarial trainees and analysts as required to maximise their contribution and ensure they are fairly rewarded
  • Act as subject matter expert on strategic business or Group level projects to ensure specialist input is provided to business decision making
  • Lead process improvements in the team from identification of issues, working with Modelling Systems team to find workable solutions and sign off end solutions
  • Review project designs impacting on team and provide assurance that changes at fit for purpose
  • Communicate effectively with a technical actuarial audience and simplify communications of technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Continually look to enhance processes and procedures to deliver effective solutions for the business

About You

  • A Qualified Actuary with experience of working within a Finance or Actuarial department
  • Ability to appropriately prioritise work and raise issues in good time to enable solutions to be found
  • Knowledge of actuarial reporting concepts and key reporting metrics (IFRS17, Solvency II)
  • Strong analytical skills backed up by a questioning attitude and a desire to build understanding
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team as well as individually
  • Committed to taking ownership and accountability for their work
  • A confident communicator who is delivery-focused, able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues in verbal and written exchanges
