The NHS is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Dermatologist to join the team at Whipps Cross University Hospital. The successful candidate will work alongside 10 established dermatology consultants, supporting the provision of outpatient and inpatient care for patients referred for dermatology care.

The appointee will play a key role in meeting the increasing demand of skin cancer referrals, providing see and treat clinics/biopsies, complex secondary care referrals, and specialist clinics, such as Patch Testing. They will also be triaging referrals via the ERS system, attending the weekly cancer MDT, and participating in local and regional teaching/governance meetings.

Main Duties
  • Support the provision of outpatient and inpatient care for patients referred for dermatology care.
  • Meet the increasing demand of skin cancer referrals, providing see and treat clinics/biopsies, complex secondary care referrals, and specialist clinics, such as Patch Testing.
  • Triage referrals via the ERS system.
  • Attend the weekly cancer MDT.
  • Participate in local and regional teaching/governance meetings.
Person Specification
  • MBBS (or equivalent)
  • MRCP UK (or equivalent)
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practise
  • On GMC Specialist Register in Dermatology or within 6 months of attainment of CCT or equivalent
Clinical Experience
  • Comprehensive clinical training in General Medical conditions
  • General Dermatology diagnostic and treatment procedures;
  • Specialist areas including Dermato-pathology, Phototherapy, skin cancers/Pigmented lesions/melanoma, contact dermatitis, Vulval dermatoses, Paediatric Dermatology etc.;
  • Inpatient care for those who require hospitalisation treatment
Clinical Skills
  • Dermatological procedures and surgery.
Clinical Knowledge
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general and some specialist Dermatology areas.
Audit Management & IT
  • Evidence of conducting and presenting clinical audit projects, attendance of dept meetings and post-graduate activities and management meetings.
Research, Teaching skill & experience
  • Experience of teaching medical undergraduates Understanding / knowledge of Research ethics
  • Attainment of MD or equivalent higher degrees
Personal Qualities
  • Communication: Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate and problem solve.
  • Accountability: ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority
  • Interpersonal Skills: High standards in patient care able to empathise and communicate with patients, relatives and carers. Able to work co-operatively with others to achieve organisational and personal goals.
