Nurse in Emergency Department

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse to join our Emergency Department team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the smooth operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care for patients, including discharge planning.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults and children.
- Participate in preceptorship programmes and act as a facilitator, mentor, or preceptor to less experienced staff.
- Provide education and support to patients and their carers, including information on adopting a healthier lifestyle.
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Develop and sustain your own knowledge, clinical skills, and professional awareness in accordance with NMC requirements.
- Contribute to research and development programmes within the ward or department.
- Maintain a safe, clean ward environment and ensure all necessary risk assessments are carried out.
Person Specification
We are looking for a Nurse who possesses excellent time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills, as well as the ability to record and deal with facts, figures, and information accurately. You should be able to follow Trust and departmental policies and procedures, communicate effectively both written and verbally, and be able to problem-solve and be flexible to change in demands of service. Additionally, you should be able to mentor and provide effective support to unregistered and student staff, use technology as required to the role, and identify and manage risk.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse on sub-part 1 or 2 of the professional register.
- NMC recognised mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards within 18 months of commencement of post.
- Evidence of continuing education for more experienced Band 5 nurses in speciality.
