Commercial Manager/Quantity Surveyor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager/Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team at Jobwise Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Costing and Analysis: Prepare and analyze project costings for tenders, including materials, quantities, labor, and time.
  2. Contract Management: Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  3. Cost Control: Monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  4. Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and submit detailed progress reports and financial statements.
  5. Procurement and Risk Management: Advise on procurement strategy and risk management.
  6. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the team and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  7. Planning and Programming: Develop a high-level understanding of planning and programming to ensure accurate progress reporting.
  8. Process Optimization: Utilize specific processes and procedures on projects to maximize returns in terms of profit and service level.
  9. Resource Management: Establish and maintain accurate and robust reporting structures and monitor resources and costs to ensure that projects meet and or exceed targets.
  10. Cash Flow Management: Maximize cash flow through timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices, and receipt of payment.
  11. Payment Processes: Ensure payment processes for site-based teams are in line with contractual agreements.
  12. Procurement and Supply Chain: Procure materials and off-site services efficiently in accordance with the company procurement policy and procedures and ensure appropriate records are kept.
  13. Quality Policy: Comprehensive understanding of the requirements of the quality policy and procedures and how these are applied to individuals' own role.
Requirements:
  1. Commercial Experience: Previous experience working as a commercial manager/quantity surveyor.
  2. Training and Education: Ideally will have trained with a main contractor.
  3. Experience Level: The ideal person will have 2 to 3 years experience post-graduation.
  4. Graduates: Graduates could be considered for this role, however you would need commercial experience gained on day release.
  5. Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication skills with the ability to work well as part of a team and also independently.
  6. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
  7. Initiative and Decision-Making: Ability to work well from initiative and make decisions and consult as appropriate.

  1. Salary: Salary up to GBP45k, dependent upon experience.
  2. Working Hours: Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with a 3.30pm finish on a Friday.

  5. Holiday Entitlement: Holiday entitlement is 21 days + bank holidays, rising with length of service.
