Job Title: Senior Design Manager

Location: London, UK

Reporting to: Regional Engineering Manager

Role Overview:

As the Senior Design Manager at PRS, you will oversee a technical management team responsible for delivering large-scale hyperscale data centre projects across the UK. You'll ensure the technical integrity of multiple projects by managing project design teams, driving consistency in adherence to PRS requirements and client solutions.

You will report to the Regional Engineering Manager and work closely with the Major Builds Delivery Team to support our clients' DCS London portfolio. Your role involves leading the successful delivery of complex engineering projects by managing external engineering consultants and contractors to meet programme, design, and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a technical team to deliver hyperscale data centre projects across the UK.
  • Ensure technical consistency across multiple projects aligned with PRS and customer-specific requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate external consultants and contractors to meet programme and budget targets.
  • Collaborate with the Global Engineering Team to ensure compliance with global design standards.
  • Deliver efficient, resilient, and cost-effective data centre infrastructures.

Team Structure:

You will be part of the Delivery Team, reporting to the VP of Real Estate, and work closely with Regional Project Managers, Design Engineers, Specialists, Cost Managers, and Procurement Managers.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Leadership & People Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
  • Design & Engineering Expertise: Strong experience managing the design and delivery of mission-critical facilities, including MEP, CSA disciplines, and construction works.
  • UK Industry Experience: Familiarity with the UK's planning and development processes, and experience with the RIBA stage gate delivery process.
  • Commissioning & Qualification: Hands-on experience in commissioning and managing change control for key systems.
  • Digital Tools & BIM: Deep understanding of BIM and the digital design environment, including its use in engineering and construction.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Previous experience in MEP data centre design and mission-critical facilities.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of CSA disciplines and design processes.
