Manufacturing Operations Coordinator

A dynamic manufacturing company, Octagon Group, is seeking a highly organized and skilled Manufacturing Planner to join their Logistics & Planning department based in Gloucester. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, this role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of production activities, managing resources, and meeting customer demands.
Key Responsibilities:- Production Scheduling: Create and manage production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, and production capacities, while raising manufacturing orders in line with MRP planned demand.
- Resource Planning: Ensure the effective allocation of labor, materials, and machinery to meet production goals, minimizing downtime.
- Order Prioritization: Prioritize production orders to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements.
- Inventory Management: Monitor raw material and finished goods levels, ensuring optimal inventory to meet production needs.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and operational challenges.
- Communication: Collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth production flow and address any supply chain issues.
- Reporting: Track key production metrics and report on performance to management.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively seek out and implement opportunities for increased efficiency, cost reduction, and streamlined processes.
- Strong analytical and logical thinking skills, with the ability to foresee and address production challenges.
- A methodical and organized approach to managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proven problem-solving abilities in fast-paced production environments.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork across departments.
- Proficient time management to meet deadlines and production targets.
- Extensive knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (IFS preferred).
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role within a manufacturing setting.
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
This is a crucial role within the supply chain, requiring someone with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset. The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, driving production efficiency and ensuring on-time delivery to customers.
