Financial Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to join our team at Job Switch Ltd.
**Salary:** £45,000 - £60,000 per annum.
**Job Description:** As a Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for providing financial advice and support to the Local Authority, ensuring timely and relevant financial data is available for management decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- To support the Group Accountant in creating detailed budgets, taking the lead role in coordinating the budget preparation for the Environment department's budgets.
- To contribute to bi-monthly budget monitoring of the Environment budgets, ensuring they are completed according to the corporate timetable.
- To support the Group Accountant in the annual closure of accounts process, taking a lead role in coordinating and completing the closure.
- To direct and supervise the work allocated to section staff, ensuring deadlines are met and reviewing workflows to deliver efficient working practices.
- To provide professional support within the section, including the financial evaluation of new legislation and regulations.
- To provide financial advice to responsible officers and budget managers, attending working groups, members groups, and service department management meetings.
- To assist Budget Managers in calculating financial performance indicators, ensuring accurate management information.
- To attend meetings on behalf of the Group Accountant, providing financial advice as required.
- To review and provide budget training to responsible officers and budget managers, ensuring officers understand their roles and responsibilities.
- To check that Committee reports properly reflect financial implications.
- To lead on compiling and verifying data for periodic grant claims, ensuring accurate claims are produced in a timely manner.
- To undertake continuing professional development and agree relevant training requirements to achieve continual improvement.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:** Full Membership to AAT or equivalent. Knowledge/experience of spreadsheets (preferably Excel). Ability to interpret and disseminate financial data. Highly detailed knowledge of financial and management accounting principles. Suitable experience in a financial environment, preparing accounting and financial information.
