About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Data and Privacy Expert to join our team as Privacy Counsel at Amazon Web Services. As a key member of our organization, you will work closely with lawyers and business leaders to prepare for and comply with new or evolving privacy laws and regulations.

Job Description

As Privacy Counsel, you will be responsible for developing and implementing privacy strategies that align with global regulatory requirements. Your expertise in data and privacy matters will enable you to advise on complex issues related to cloud computing services. You will also work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to build innovative products and services that meet customer needs while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement privacy strategies that align with global regulatory requirements.
  2. Advise on complex data and privacy issues related to cloud computing services.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build innovative products and services.
  4. Work closely with lawyers and business leaders to ensure compliance with new or evolving privacy laws and regulations.
  5. Stay up-to-date with changing regulatory requirements and provide guidance to the team.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant post-qualification legal experience (minimum 10+ years) gathered in-house or in private practice.
  • Exceptional expertise and experience in Data and Privacy matters or related regulatory matters.
  • Experience with global privacy laws, including European and U.S. law.
  • Understanding of internet services and applications and related technologies.
  • Ability to set, drive strategy, and provide guidance to the team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous situations.

What We Offer
