About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Assystem. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing fluid systems and working closely with multi-disciplined teams to deliver system design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop 2D CAD drawings, including process flow diagrams (PFD) and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), to ensure accurate and efficient system design.
  • Prepare 3D CAD/BIM models, plant layouts, piping design, isometrics, MTO, general arrangement drawings, detail drawings, and sketches to support system development.
  • Perform layout optimisation engineering across design phases to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews, layout reviews, design reviews, and technical meetings to ensure design quality and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, specifications, standards, codes, legislation, and requirements to guarantee system safety and reliability.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure a coordinated design and delivery of system design.
  • Maintain records of design process in accordance with sound design practices and company standards.
  • Maintain and update databases for CAD/BIM design documentation to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Report status and updates to management line and stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Support team and maintain required standards and expectations to meet targets, quality, time, and budget constraints.
  • Support and mediate solutions and issues with resolution with all stakeholders being aligned to ensure smooth project delivery.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or a similar role with a strong understanding of fluid systems and system design.
  • Ability to work within the engineering team to realise designs and deliver system design.
  • Familiarity with 2D CAD systems (AutoCAD) for drawing creation and 3D CAD/BIM systems (Revit, Inventor, Solidworks, Solid Edge, Siemens NX, PDMS, AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar) for model and drawing creation.
  • Professional qualification in an engineering-related field, such as mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • SC Clearance or capable of achieving it to meet company security requirements.
