Apprentice Paint Technician Job Description

Steer Automotive Group is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Paint Technician. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in the field of paint and repair, working alongside experienced technicians and mentors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under direct supervision to achieve full competence and qualification in paint and repair techniques.
  • Assess and diagnose vehicle damage, identifying areas that require repair or replacement.
  • Apply accurate and appropriate repair methods, ensuring high-quality finishes and meeting manufacturer and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and managers, discussing damage and repairs, and negotiating using evidence-based reasoning.
  • Assess the cost and duration of repairs, using industry proprietary guides and estimating software systems.

Requirements:

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Be willing to work Monday to Friday, 8am-4.30pm.
  • Be prepared to commit to the apprenticeship for 3 years.
  • Hold a Grade 4 or above in Maths and English, or Functional Skills Level 2.
