Speech and Language Graduate Teaching Assistant

This is an ideal position for an aspiring Speech and Language Therapist who wants to gain experience in a school-based setting.

As a Speech and Language Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to support children who have speech and language difficulties and work closely with the SENCO to develop strategies to improve their communication skills.

The school is looking for a graduate with a strong understanding of the mechanics of language and linguistics, and this role presents a perfect opportunity to hone your skills in working with pupils in language building and add to your professional Speech and Language portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with speech and language difficulties in a school-based setting
  • Work closely with the SENCO to develop strategies to improve communication skills
  • Assist in the delivery of therapy sessions and participate in therapy activities
  • Contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with speech and language needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting students with speech and language difficulties

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Linguistics, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of the mechanics of language and linguistics
  • Experience working with children with speech and language difficulties
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
