Salary and Benefits

This exciting opportunity comes with a competitive salary range of £32,306-£43,041 per annum (Band 6), depending on experience. Candidates are responsible for covering the cost of their own Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, recoverable over the initial two pay periods. Apprentices are exempt from DBS payment.

Job Description

This challenging yet rewarding role involves working as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) in the Haematology Department. As a Haematology Specialist Nurse, you will provide specialist nursing services, promoting clinical excellence and supporting patients, carers, and staff across the cancer pathway.

  • Acting as an autonomous professional clinical practitioner, providing high-quality patient care and adhering to the Trust Nursing Strategy and NMC standards.
  • Facilitating nurse-led clinics and developing knowledge and skills to support discussions surrounding diagnosis, treatment options, and other issues pertinent to key stages within the cancer pathway.
  • Managing the care of patients with suspected or confirmed cancer diagnoses, providing specialist advice and assistance in follow-up care.

You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills, empower patients and carers through education and counselling, and liaise with external agencies as necessary.

Requirements
  • A first-level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Relevant nursing experience, preferably in haematology or transferable skills.
  • Demonstrated evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Experience working at Band 6 and involvement in service users' advocacy and complaints resolution.
