Lead Forensic Psychiatrist

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our clinical team in Ash Ward, a 12-bed stand-alone male Low Secure in-patient Ward within Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Forensic Services.
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Forensic Services provide support for individuals experiencing mental health difficulties and in contact with the criminal justice system or presenting significant risks to others. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team providing innovative care solutions.
About the RoleThis exciting opportunity involves working as part of our Community Forensic Team, providing forensic advice and support to community mental health services and non-secure inpatient settings. As a key member of our Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCFT), you will be responsible for gatekeeping/admission avoidance into secure care and provide key working for patients within secure care settings across the South West Provider collaborative region.
The role also encompasses providing forensic liaison and diversion services within police custody, locally named ASCC (Advice and Support in Custody and Court), and contributing to our OPD (Offender Personality Disorder) Pathway in conjunction with probation services.
You will be working closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and deliver high-quality care pathways for service users. This position requires a Clinician who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, has strong communication skills, and can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
