Purchasing and Logistics Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing and Logistics Manager to lead our Purchasing and Logistics department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal stock levels, streamlining supply chain processes, and controlling costs.
Main Responsibilities:- Stock Management: Utilize MRP and similar reporting to ensure the company maintains appropriate stock levels, minimizing excess and aged stock through forecasting processes and liaison with other departments and suppliers.
- Aged Stock Monitoring: Monitor aged stock and work with other departments to minimize values and highlight potential issues, including updating and creating new stock records and controls.
- Support and Delivery: Support stock accuracy enquiries to resolution and manage direct delivery orders to completion.
- Team Management: Proactively manage the team to respond accurately and within agreed time frames to daily purchasing enquiries via company systems.
- Best Practices: Implement and use purchasing and logistics best practices and key metrics to improve performance and drive efficiencies.
- Supplier Liaison: Liaise with suppliers to ensure prices are updated on the stock system on a regular and timely basis.
- Stock Takes: Manage and support stock takes (year-end) working with other departments to ensure an efficient process and stock records are accurately updated on a timely basis.
- Team Performance: Manage team performance and agree employee development plans, including appraisals, to motivate and inspire individuals to achieve consistent levels of high performance.
- Reporting: Report to the Executive team and Directors, providing weekly and monthly updates on key metrics/KPIs and offering solutions for improvements where applicable.
- Team Management: Experience in managing a team of individuals to reach their highest team and personal potential.
- Excel Skills: Advanced user of Excel to interrogate and analyze data (Pivot tables, filters, etc.).
- MRP Experience: Experience using MRP systems to forecast, problem solve, and ensure smooth running of the department.
- Supply Chain Management: Extensive experience of forecasting and stock management and overall supply chain management.
- High Volume SKUs: Experienced in dealing with high volumes of SKUs (1,000+) with stock turnover at least every 3 months in a distribution business or a fast stock moving environment.
- Sage 200: Sage 200 experience preferred.
