OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Materials Sourcing Manager to drive the creation of innovative, functional products for our customers.

As a key member of our team, you will manage and execute fabric development, establish technical approvals, and perform risk assessments in line with critical path timelines. You will collaborate with our Design, Sourcing, and Product Management teams to deliver a diverse, exciting material portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee material development from concept to commercialisation, ensuring quality standards and alignment with creative direction, sourcing, and product strategies.
  2. Standardise raw materials manufacturing processes to ensure global consistency.
  3. Be the main contact for all material-related inquiries within Gymshark.
  4. Foster an environment promoting innovative thinking, collaboration, and teamwork.
  5. Analyse cost components and the global material market to support negotiation strategies.
  6. Manage and negotiate material prices to meet seasonal margin targets using open costing templates.
  7. Support strategic business plans for Tier 3 & 4 suppliers.
  8. Lead material selection meetings, guiding teams to improve efficiency and meet margin targets.
  9. Develop and mentor a team of fabric and trim developers to reach their full potential.
  10. Manage supplier onboarding for Tier 3 & 4 suppliers and evaluate supplier capabilities.
  11. Drive innovation and sustainability in materials, including fibres, fabrics, trims, dyeing, and finishing processes.


REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 10+ years of material development experience in the apparel industry.
  2. A deep understanding of the apparel design and development lifecycle.
  3. Expertise in fabric application to meet aesthetic, functional, technical, and commercial needs.
  4. Extensive knowledge of materials and their engineering and manufacturing processes.
  5. Strong knowledge of fabric properties and performance testing.
  6. Expertise in yarn spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing, and finishing processes for performance fabrics.
  7. Proficient in garment dry and wet processing, dyeing, and finishing.
  8. Strong negotiation skills with advanced understanding of material costing.
  9. Line management experience is required.
  10. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and address material issues.
  11. Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  12. Strong written and verbal communication skills, adept at delivering presentations.
  13. Proficient in Microsoft Office, PLM, and Excel.

This is a hybrid role and would require the successful candidate to attend at least 3 days a week in GSIQ, Solihull, UK.
