Job Title: Child Development NurseAbout the Role

We are seeking an experienced Child Development Nurse to join our team as a Deputy Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children. This is a critical role that requires a highly skilled professional to provide leadership, advice, and guidance on safeguarding children.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the Designated Nurse Safeguarding Children in providing strategic leadership on safeguarding children and services for children in Rotherham.
  • Collaborate with the safeguarding team, external stakeholders, and partners to meet and monitor performance and compliance requirements.
  • Provide expert input into strategic and clinical planning, standard setting, and assurance processes.
  • Promote evidence-based services and develop effective inter-disciplinary and inter-agency relationships to improve outcomes for children.
  • Support the ongoing effective function of the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub.
  • Work with the Designated Nurse Safeguarding Children to provide professional leadership and consultancy to provider services.
  • Support the Designated Nurse and the ICB in monitoring and reviewing Rapid Reviews, Safeguarding Practice Reviews, and domestic homicide reviews.
  • Develop effective working relationships with leads for all areas of safeguarding children.
  • Negotiate on difficult and contentious issues.
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan over short, medium, and long-term periods.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in Safeguarding Children work and expert knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the role.
  • Experience of working with related safeguarding legislation.
  • Significant experience of managing projects and delivering them within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Experience of leading change projects.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders and preparing briefing papers.
  • Educated to Masters level in a relevant area of academic practice or equivalent experience.
  • Fosters good working relationships and values difference.
Knowledge and Understanding
  • Must understand the background and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this.
  • Must understand the relationship between the Department of Health & Social Care and individual provider and commissioning organisations.
