Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provisions Role
Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and patient individual to support students with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) in Wakefield. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to promote positive behaviour and a conducive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with SEMH and EBSA.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and a conducive learning environment.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support each student's academic and personal development.
- Demonstrate patience and understanding in challenging situations, managing behaviours such as aggression, withdrawal, or anxiety.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with students with SEMH and EBSA.
- Strong understanding of de-escalation and calming techniques.
- A proactive and caring attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
