Job Description

Voluntary Sub-warden – Rutherford Hall

A vacancy has arisen for a Sub-warden at Rutherford Hall of Residence. The post will involve assisting the Warden in the day-to-day running of the hall, including pastoral, disciplinary, and administrative duties. The successful applicant will be part of a team that provides out-of-hours emergency cover and helps to ensure the smooth running of the hall.

Key Responsibilities

Sub-wardens will be responsible for assisting the Warden in the day-to-day running of the hall, including:

• Providing pastoral support to students
• Assisting with disciplinary matters
• Carrying out administrative tasks
• Being involved in social aspects of hall life

Personal Attributes

Candidates must display a high level of personal organisational ability, good administrative ability, leadership qualities, and be sociable and a good team player. Sub-wardens are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the community spirit of the Hall and a willingness to engage with students and hall life in general.

Application Procedures

Interested applicants will be invited to come for dinner in hall and look around, and attend a meeting to discuss the post prior to close of applications. Applicants should submit an accompanying letter outlining suitability for the post, along with contact details for two written references. The successful applicant will be required to attend Sub-Warden training sessions in September and undertake first aid, mental health first aid, and fire safety training when available.
