An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Intelligence Analyst to contribute to a pioneering company at the forefront of sustainable materials research and development.

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for providing in-depth patent landscape analysis and combining these insights with broader business intelligence to inform the organisation's research and innovative efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute patent search strategies, presenting findings through visualisation tools to inform research teams.
  2. Conduct detailed patent searches and analysis to map competitor activity and identify trends in areas of strategic interest.
  3. Gather and interpret business intelligence from non-patent sources to deliver comprehensive reports.
  4. Manage relationships with external patent search providers and maintain licences for patent search software.
  5. Collaborate with internal research teams to align patent analysis with ongoing technological developments.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience in a similar role such as Business Intelligence Analyst, Business Analyst, research analyst, or data analyst.
  2. Proven experience in conducting patent searches, with the ability to distil large datasets into actionable insights.
  3. A PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, or equivalent experience in a relevant research position.
  4. A strong interest in patents and delivering business intelligence to influence research strategies.
  5. Ability to quickly understand new technologies and areas outside your prior experience.
  6. Familiarity with patent databases such as Derwent Innovation, PatentSight, or Orbit is desirable.
