Principal UI Artist

Lighthouse Games is a new AAA studio based in the UK, recognized for its talent and ambition to create top-class games. This environment allows you to produce your best work, collaborate with talented individuals, and learn from industry experts.

This role is pivotal in shaping the artistic direction and visual identity of our games through innovative user interface designs. As part of our team, you will collaborate with artists, designers, and developers to craft exceptional player experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the game design, art direction, and development teams to understand project requirements and define the artistic vision for UI designs.
  • Create high-quality UI designs, including menus, HUDs, icons, buttons, and other interactive components that align with the artistic direction and narrative of the game.
  • Lead and mentor a team of UI artists, providing guidance, feedback, and support in delivering high-quality UI concepts.
  • Develop and maintain UI style guides, ensuring consistency and cohesiveness throughout the project.
  • Prototype and iterate UI concepts, considering player feedback and usability testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement UI designs into the game engine, taking into account technical limitations and performance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a UI artist in the games industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in creating visually stunning UI designs for AAA games.
  • Expert knowledge of UI/UX design principles and best practices, with a proven ability to translate complex ideas into intuitive and immersive user interfaces.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or Figma.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and inspire a team of artists.
  • A deep understanding of player psychology and behaviors, and the ability to create UI experiences that engage and captivate players.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate artistic vision and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • A passion for video games and dedication to pushing the boundaries of UI/UX innovation.
  • Experience working with modern game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
