Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Probate Legal Assistant to join our team at Reed. As a Probate Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our probate solicitors in managing the administration of estates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist solicitors with the management of probate files, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including wills, grants of probate, and letters of administration, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Conduct asset searches and valuations, utilizing your analytical skills to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Liaise with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and other relevant parties, providing exceptional customer service and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Manage and update case management systems, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with the team.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and firm policies, upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as filing, photocopying, and scanning documents, with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a probate admin/ legal assistant role, with a strong understanding of estate administration and inheritance tax matters.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and tasks.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Desirable:

  • Legal qualification or training, with a strong understanding of probate law and procedures.
  • Experience with estate administration and inheritance tax matters, with a proven track record of success.
