Job Title: Housekeeper

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team at Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. As a Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide refreshments to patients and relatives attending the day unit for anti-cancer treatment.
  • Receive, welcome, and guide visitors coming onto the unit, liaising with other staff as appropriate.
  • Act as a ward contact point for the catering department.
  • Check all food items held in the kitchen to ensure good practice with stock rotation. Dispose of any items that have exceeded their designated use by date.
  • Collect medications and chemotherapy from the pharmacy.
  • Deliver samples and items within the hospital.
  • Ensure the ward is clean and safe for patients and staff.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the ward is fully stocked, including the nursing trolleys. That equipment is in date, stored correctly, and store areas are tidy.
  • Complete fridge temperature audits and escalate concerns to the ward lead.
  • Be responsible for keeping linen stocked in both the cupboard and trolley.

  • English qualification (for example GCSE)
  • Math qualification (for example GCSE)

Experience:

  • Experience with working with members of the public

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working in a healthcare organization

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • To have basic computer skills

Knowledge:

  • Previous experience of hospital IT systems
  • Understanding of food hygiene
